Friends Provident International (FPI) has announced the appointment of a new managing director for its business in Hong Kong.
FPI Hong Kong, part of the Aviva Group, has unveiled John Elkovich as managing director and he will take on the role from August 1.
Elkovich succeeds Charles Barrows, who has been appointed vice president director of Astra Aviva Life in Indonesia.
With more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, Elkovich has worked in roles in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong.
Adrian Emery, chief executive officer of FPI, welcomed Elkovich to the business and stressed that his experience will see him thrive in the new role.
“I am delighted to welcome John to lead our Hong Kong business,” Emery said.
“John has an impressive track record in the development and leadership of wealth management businesses in the region.
“His strong relationships with regulators, brokers and IFAs will represent huge assets for our business as we seek to boost growth in Hong Kong, notably by targeting the high net worth market.
“I would like to thank Charles for his contribution to FPI Hong Kong and I wish him all the best in his new role at Astra Aviva Life.”
Most recently, Elkovich was head of investment advisory and wealth planning at ANZ Global Wealth and Private Bank Asia, based in Singapore.
Elkovich has also worked in roles for Westpac and Commonwealth Bank, both located in Australia.
